“Having successfully supported Bechtle to establish a presence in Manchester in 2019, Kerr Office Group were contacted by Bechtle shortly after opening their Portland Street office to design their new HQ in Wiltshire.
We initially were engaged to conduct a feasibility study for a variety of spaces to better understand their requirements and find a suitable premises. We then utilised our network of professionals within the commercial property sector to assist Bechtle negotiate and complete terms on a lease for the 21,000 sq. ft premises in Chippenham.
A company of German origin, Bechtle use the term ‘Zukunftsstark’ to represent their vision of being connected, experienced and entrepreneurial to shape the future with IT. Our challenge was to build a space that represented these values.
For Bechtle’s leadership team, it was important that the space felt like an upgrade for staff, rewarding them for their hard work and encouraging them to continue to drive business success. With big growth ambitions, our team created a flexible design scheme that embodied their people-centric philosophy and provided staff with an environment that is not only functional but inspiring for staff and customers alike.
Central to the design scheme was a double-height social hub with premium kitchen amenities, a bespoke coffee bar and soft furnishings where staff could enjoy down time away from their desk. To facilitate an activity-based working environment, our design included stylish soundproof meeting booths, huddle zones perfect for ad-hoc collaboration and versatile training spaces with state-of-the-art AV technology.
Our fit-out was sympathetic to the original style of the Gensler designed building, where industrial and natural materials combine in a building with a dominating architectural presence set in to the landscape. Elements of biophilic design were incorporated as a novel and subtle way of introducing branding to the workplace.
Completed over a 10 week period, this technology and wellbeing-focused workplace is well-equipped catalyse growth for Bechtle and its people for many years to come.”
